So we made it, another week down and we're still here. Today I want to share how I made it through my week. I will sum it up in two things, first I trusted God with everything. I gave him all my concerns, big and small, and I've let him be God. Second and what I really want to share with you today is I prayed a lot. On Tuesday I heard a word given by David Hocking and he talked about prayer. How that we need to and should always be praying. He said that when we pray we are closes to God then we will be until we are with him for eternity. He said it's because we are in the presense of God and we are having a conversation with him. We are giving and asking the living God to help us through this crazy thing we call life. The one thing he talked about was the idea of contemplative prayer. He believes, and so do I that prayer is something we should do that requires us to talk and speak to God. I believe that prayer and waiting on the Lord, sitting in silence to hear from God is different from prayer. I'm not here to bash the idea of contemplative prayer, I just feel that we need to get back on our knees and talk with Jesus.
I'll close with this, we need to realize that God knows everything we've been through and can handle anything we throw at him. Also he wants us to give him everything because he loves us that much: Hebrews 4: 14-16
14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens,[e] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
So my prayer for us today is that we get on our knees and pray, not just today but everyday we are blessed to wake up. I pray that we see the importance and how huge of a privilege prayer is. I pray that we wouldn't be afraid to talk with Jesus and that we would let him do all the hard work.
